The race in 2022 at a wet Suzuka had a chaotic start and a bizarre end. After some confusion regarding the points to award, once Max Verstappen crossed the finish line with a convincing lead, it became clear that Max had not only won in Japan but also secured his second world title.
Max said after the race: "Incredible, I could not have imagined this to happen. It's amazing to look back at the fantastic year we've had. Last year we had to fight until the end, and this year we truly had a great car. I'm thankful to everyone who contributed to this success. To become champion two years in a row is really great. Especially here, it makes me very proud."
