Again the McLarens were undefeatable this morning in the free practice for the Grand Prix at Silverstone. Hakkinen was the only driver to break the 1.24 barrier with his best time of 1.23.639. The Jordans did very well this morning with Ralf Schumacher and Damon Hill setting the 4th and 5th time. The Williams drivers couldn't set the same pace as yesterday and finished 6th and 8th, with Villeneuve being the fastest of the two.

Jos Verstappen improved his time again and again but still ended in 19th position, with 1.27.690 only 0,3 slower than his teammate Rubens, who was 18th. The Stewarts just miss the pace here on this circuit and the only team slower are the Minardi's and, last as usual, Ricardo Rosset, who was more than 2 seconds slower than his teammate Takagi.
