Mika Hakkinen was fastest in the warm-up for the European Grand Prix in Jerez with a time of 1:23.016. Behind him were the cars of Gerhard Berger, Olivier Panis, David Coulthard, Jacques Villeneuve and Johnny Herbert. Times set today were quite a bit slower than those set in yesterday's qualifying. Jos Verstappen set a time of 1:26.307, good for position 22. Mika Salo was 20th with 1:25.419. For a complete overview of the results you can take a look at our season page.

During the whole race today a supervisor, Antonio Heras to be exact, will be present at post '18' near the chicane to judge the behaviour of Jacques Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher. If one of both drivers, or another driver with a 'mission', makes an error in blocking, slowing down or hit Jacques or Michael then the FIA will sanction directly. Yesterday Norberto Fontana got a $5000 fine by driving 97,9 Km/h in the pitlane with a speed limit of 80 Km/h.
