Max participates with Team Redline in sim races: Real Racers Never Quit

Published on 23 March 2020 by Kees-Jan Koster

In the coming two weeks, Max will be at the start of a total of twelve sim races. The Dutchman will play in the virtual races for Team Redline, who organised the event “Real Racers Never Quit”, in which 40 professional drivers will compete each other in the game iRacing.

Of course Max hopes that the situation globally will start to normalise in a short while. But until then, he will keep himself busy doing sim racing. “It’s keeping me sharp”, says Max. “What else can you do at this moment, you have to stay inside. And it’s fun, I really enjoy sim racing anyway. Over the Winter I did it a lot and I try to practice my skills and make it even better. That’s why I love doing it.”

“Real Racers Never Quit by Team Redline” will be streamed through live.teamredline.com and the official YouTube and Twitch channels of Team Redline.

The list of participants only includes ‘real’ professional drivers, including well known names like Max Verstappen (F1), Lando Norris (F1), Giedo van der Garde (LMP2), Antonio Felix da Costa (FE), Stoffel Vandoorne (FE), Nelson Piquet (FE), Dani Juncadella (DTM), Bruno Spengler (DTM), Martin Tomcyk (DTM), Mike Rockenfeller (DTM), Rene Rast (DTM), Juan Montoya (DPi) and Felipe Nasr (DPi).

Also drivers from F2 (Louis Delatraz en Luca Ghiotto) and many other classes like F3, GT, LMP2 or Porsche Supercup have singed up. Other Dutch drivers who have signed up besides Verstappen and Van der Garde are: Richard Verschoor (F3), Bent Viscaal (F3), Nicky Catsburg (GT), Job van Uitert (LMP2), Niels Langeveld (WTCR) and Larry ten Voorde (Porsche).

The competition consists of six events, divided over the coming two weeks: every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 21.00. Every evening there will be two races, each will include half an hour free practice, two laps of qualifying, and a race of twenty minutes.
