Pirelli announces tyre choices Brazilian Grand Prix

Published on 07 November 2019 by Mike Motilall

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, have announced the selection of tyres the teams have made for the Brazilian Grand Prix. At the penultimate race weekend of this season, the teams will have at their disposal in Interlagos the C1-, C2- and C3-tyres, marked respectively white, yellow and red.

Striking is that Mercedes have taken a completely different route compared to their competitors Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. The German squad has gone for eight sets of the soft compound tyre, as oppose to the other two top teams. They have selected ten sets. McLaren have gone for the same selection, which means the Woking based team has the most reserved strategy together with Mercedes.

Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon, just like a few other drivers, have apart from the ten sets of the softs, also each two sets mediums and one set of the white-striped hard compound tyre at their disposal. Alfa Romeo, Toro Rosso and Williams have taken the middle road and are taking only nine sets of the soft tyres with them to the 4,309 meter long Autodromo José Carlos Pace.
