Max Verstappen voted Driver of the Day

Published on 28 October 2019 by Mike Motilall

After a catch-up race in Mexico, Max Verstappen has been voted, for the sixth time this season, ‘Driver of the Day’. Fans worldwide cast their votes during the Mexican Grand Prix. The Dutchman eventually amassed the most of them.

Starting from fourth, Max gets well off the line, but Lewis Hamilton brushes him on the first lap. The Aston Martin Red Bull Racing-driver subsequently drops back some five places. During an attempt to overtake Valtteri Bottas’ Mercedes, Max runs into a right rear puncture. This causes him to lose even more time and sends him all the way to the back of the field.

Max got his head down and embarked on a catch-up race. In doing so he managed to set constant lap times on the hard compound tyre throughout the entire race. He made small work of all of his opponents ahead of him, moving up from P20 all the way to P6 when the flag dropped on Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. A feat much appreciated by the fans worldwide as they voted him ‘Driver of the Day’.
