Published on 30 August 2019 by Kees-Jan Koster

Formula 1 has announced the provisional calendar for next season, which for the first time in the history of the sport will have 22 races. The season traditionally starts in Australia on 15th March and will finish in Abu Dhabi on 29th November. The Dutch Grand Prix, after an absence of 30 years, is planned for 3rd May. The race on Zandvoort will be the first European race of the season.

Also new is the Grand Prix of Vietnam, which will take place after the first of seven back-to-back races on the 5th April. The Italian Grand Prix is still subject to negotiations of a new deal.

The organisation will propose the new calendar in a months’ time to the FIA World Motor Sport Council, who will have to approve. Normally this is only a formality.
