Pirelli announces Belgian GP tyre choices

Published on 10 August 2019 by Stefan Meens

Pirelli, Formula 1’s official tyre supplier, announced the F1 team’s tyre choices for the Belgian Grand Prix. On offer are the C1, C2 and C3 compounds, respectively marked white, yellow and red.

Both Mercedes drivers and McLaren’s Lando Norris have opted for eight sets of the soft Pirellis, which is the most conservative selection. Ferrari, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, Renault and Haas opt for the most aggressive selection by choosing ten sets of the red-walled softs.

McLaren and Williams are the only teams with split strategies between their drivers with Carlos Sainz opting for an extra soft tyre compared to Norris and George Russell favouring an extra set of the hardest compound. The Williams rookie is the only driver with a two sets of the C3 tyre.
