Max after Bahrain race: “Our car is super, so I am not planning on trailing”

Max Verstappen was not able to make it to the checkered flag, due to him running into world champion Lewis Hamilton. In Ziggo Sport’s Peptalk the Dutchman looks back at a disappointing race in Bahrain.

Max briefly explains his overtake maneuver on Hamilton’s Mercedes and why he didn’t take his time: “Our car is super, so I am not planning on trailing. I knew that we had a good race car and that we could take them on. During qualifying they have that qualifying mode, but in the race that’s of course not the case.”

Even Hamilton’s much debated response, after he had seen the images of him and Verstappen running into each other, is also briefly discussed: “He is just getting out of the car, so those things can happen. When you’re just out of the car, you’re still pumped with adrenalin, so I can understand why.”

Despite getting off on the wrong foot, the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing-driver is looking ahead with confidence to the coming race in Shanghai: “We are off to China tomorrow. Hopefully we are able to have a good start at the front. We have a good race car, so hopefully there as well.”
