Max loses game of FIFA

Published on 27 October 2017 by Niels Hendrix

For Max, it was a trip to Red Bull Mexico HQ and a battle with FIFA pro gamer Rodrigo Ulibarri. The pair set up in front of a huge TV and packed office where Max, to the surprise of many, did not disgrace himself. They played two games, Rodrigo triumphed first up with a 3-1 victory, but Max, eschewing Total Football and favouring Catenaccio, held him to a thrilling 0-0 draw the second time around.

"Rodrigo's one of the best FIFA players from the Americas so playing against him was a real test of my skills but good fun. I really enjoyed it," said Max. "He didn't give me any tips for FIFA – but that's OK 'cos I wouldn't have given him any for the racing either!"

After that they got into Max's comfort zone, slipping into the playseats for a couple of laps of the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on the F1 2017 game, where Max managed to put his opponent to shame.

Max also chatted with local media between games, and managed to blow the schedule by staying about twice as long as he was supposed to because he was loathe to leave the playseat. Toro Rosso's Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley turned up later in the afternoon and they posed for photographs with Max and Rodrigo.
