Pirelli announces tyre choices for Canadian Grand Prix

Published on 30 May 2017 by Mike Motilall

Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier, has announced the tyre choices for the Canadian Grand Prix by the different teams. After the Monaco Grand Prix, the drivers are now allowed to choose how they intend to use the thirteen sets of tyres they have at their disposal. Pirelli has selected three tyre compounds they have to choose from. The teams can, just like in Monaco, use the soft, super soft and ultra-soft compound tyre during the race weekend on the semi-street circuit in Montreal.

McLaren has gone for a more aggressive approach. The much plagued Woking based team, has opted to go for ten sets of the ultra-softs for both of their drivers. Regarding the top teams, Ferrari is the most aggressive with no less than nine sets of the ultra-softs, followed by Mercedes and Red Bull Racing with respectively eight and seven sets of the softest compound.
