Jos Verstappen continued the two day Tyrrell session at Silverstone today. Among other things he tested new brakes for the team. The weather conditions were worse than yesterday, there was a strong wind and it rained until two o'clock in the afternoon. Jos drove 33 timed laps without any problems, the grip of the car was good and his position in the car had improved with the adjustments to his pedals. Jos' best time today was 1:26.01, about 3 seconds slower than the fastest man today, Olivier Panis, who had a best time of 1:23.15. Ralf Schumacher had the second best time, 1:23.48. Mika Hakkinen clocked 1:24.03 and Gerhard Berger 1:24.90. Giancarlo Fisichella had an accident in Cops curve. He has been taken to a hospital with knee injuries. Today and yesterday the 19 year old German Nick Heidfeld tested for McLaren. Nick was third in last year's German F3 championship.

Yesterday Mika Salo had a best time of 1:25,3 which was 3,5 seconds slower than the fastest time yesterday. Obviously the Tyrrell lacks a good deal of top speed compared to the topteams. Hopefully this difference in speed will get a bit less again when the team gets an improved version of the Ford Cosworth engine in Imola.
