Pirelli announces tyre choices for German Grand Prix

Published on 19 July 2016 by Mike Motilall

The F1 sole tyre supplier Pirelli has revealed the different tyre choices for the German Grand Prix. The Italian based company supplies three tyre-compounds every GP-weekend. It is mandatory for the teams to use two during the race.

This time it’s Force India that has a very different tyre choice compared to the other teams. Sergio Perez and Nico Hülkenberg have both chosen three sets of the medium compound, whereas the rest of the field feels they only need to run with one set of the white striped tyre.

Regarding the top teams, the Ferrari outfit decided to go for a more aggressive approach by choosing nine sets of the super-soft compound tyres for both Sebastian Vettel as well as Kimi Raikkonen. Mercedes-drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, have, just like the Red Bull Racing-drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen, eight sets of the super-softs for the Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
