Max full of hope despite limited running

Published on 25 October 2015 by Stefan Meens

During the first two days of the USA Grand Prix weekend, Max lapped the Circuit of the Americas only fourteen times. FP1 was driven in heavy rain, second free practice was cancelled and during the third and final session Max spend the majority in the pits with technical issues.

“Unfortunately I had a problem with the engine so I wasn’t able to complete a lot of laps. It's not an ideal preparation ahead of qualifying but I'll give it my best”, explains a motivated Max who now has to prepare for qualifying taking place on Sunday morning, 2pm GMT.

“We've got a good car in the rain but a good preparation is always nicer. However, I'm from the Netherlands where it rains a lot. I've driven a lot in the rain in my karting days in which you're always on the limit. The key is to really feel the car.”

Should the American Grand Prix, set to start at 7pm GMT, turn out to be a rain race, Max is confident he can get a good result. “On a wet track, we have a chance to finish in the top six. However, if it's dry, I hope we can score some points.”
