Max scopes circuit and city

Published on 08 October 2015 by Mike Motilall

Max Verstappen landed in Russia Tuesday evening and afterwards, visited the Sochi Autodrom and the Russian seaside resort Sochi on Wednesday. After having finished an initial meeting with the Scuderia Toro Rosso team, the usual trackwalk, to inspect and get familiarized with the circuit in every aspect, was done.

The Sochi Autodrom, previously the Sochi International Street Circuit and the Sochi Olympic Park Circuit, is a circuit in the Russian seaside resort Sotsji. The track is a semi-street circuit and is since 2014 host to the Russian Grand Prix for the Formula 1. The circuit has a length of 3.63 miles. The circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke and is situated around the Olympic Park Sotsji, where, during the Winter games of 2014, among other sports, skating and curling took place. Approximately 1.7 kilometers of the circuit is driven on regular roads.

In the evening, together with all the engineers and mechanics that work on Max’ car, a small visit was paid to the city, some forty five minutes away from the track. In a Brazilian restaurant, a hearty meal was enjoyed and Max’ eighteenth birthday was once again celebrated. The birthday boy was in for a treat when a chocolate cake was brought in.
