Veni Vidi Vici, the 2008 Van Merksteijn sportscar campaign

Published on 06 July 2015 by Mike Motilall

The book “Veni Vidi Vici” is the chronicle of the unforgettable 2008 endurance campaign of the Dutch Van Merksteijn outfit with, of course, in one of the leading role, Jos Verstappen.

One hundred and ten pages with unique photos from the most talented Benelux photographers, all the statistics and the full report of an unparalleled campaign. The tale begins with the challenge for the team to get hold of the mighty Porsche RS Spyder and the first test sessions, during which Jos showcased the Porsche engineers an unheard level of performance.

Of course the entire LMS campaign is featured in writing as well as in images, with also a detailed summary of all the races and the fantastic achievement by Jos (LMP2-champion), Peter van Merksteijn and Jeroen Bleekmolen.

The chapter about the 24 hours of Le Mans is undoubtedly the climax of the book with all the “behind the scenes” stories and the fantastic victory by the Dutch team under supervision of Frans Verschuur. A unique recollection of one of the best moments in Dutch motorsports history.
