Jos on qualifying

Published on 08 October 2005 by Thorsten Hendriks

Again we managed to speak with Jos, who has been very busy today with interviews, autograph sessions and the drivers' briefing. "I have tried everything to get out of the car what is in it, but I made a few mistakes myself. In the first session we went reasonably, on old tyres but we were satisfied with our time. The second session I drove on new tyres and made some adjustments but that didn't work at all. The third session I knew I had to go to the limit, well I went to the limit and over... When exiting corner 9 the track was not wide enough and I went off track and hit something. The fourth run I knew I had to stay within the limit."

The training session looked very promising. "We were a lot better this morning, but when we have to deliver it just doesn't happen. We are driving on the limits of the car, it just won't go any faster. When you go off track, you know you are on the limit or even over. The car is very nervous over the kerbs. We have done our best but it has to be better. We have to find a good balance in the car."

What is there to be done in the race? "We can do a few things in preparation of the race, but not too much because we will then disturb the whole setup of the car. The car does feel better on old tyres so that does give some prospective for the race."

What about the fans? "Well, it is fantastic if you see all that orange on the stands. Everyone is talking about it: the drivers, the mechanics which is great!"

Jos will start the sprintrace from 10th on the grid during the second A1GP race at the Lausitzring.
