and then the season has ended. "We are doing our utmost, that is all we can do" according to Jos Verstappen, "we are trying every trick in the book but the car just doesn't have the speed." That is how Jos justifies his 21st position on the grid in tomorrows' last Grand Prix of the 2001 season.




Very different is Michael Schumacher's story, with only 9 laps he claimed pole position. In a 1.32.484, almost 4.5 seconds faster than Jos. Juan Pablo Montoya joins Michael on front row. Ralf Schumacher starts from third with next to him Rubens Barrichello. Giancarlo Fisichella put himself on 6th in his Benetton Renault, squeezing himself inbetween the McLarens of Hakkinen and Coulthard who are respectively 5th and 7th.
